about

I don't actually want to ruin Christmas, but the holiday comes in a season of high stress, inhospitable weather, and widespread depression. This song is about the triumphant realization that no matter how much the season gets you down, Christmas isn't ruined...you'd have to do all the things in the lyrics to even make a dent.

lyrics

It's not too late to ruin Christmas
get out the gas and torch the tree
gorget good will and make yourself some enemies
and spend your Christmas well away from me

It's not too late to ruin Christmas
invite the inlaws; start a fight
let the flames of all your grudges burn so bright
and do your best to settle every score tonight

We still have time to ruin Christmas
everybody's going to have to rush
every single person's got some kind of dreams to be crushed
and it's not too late to ruin Christmas if we must

Aren't you tired of trying to act like some sort of saint?
Aren't you going to explode from one more minute of self-restraint?
So I think I know just what needs to be done
We have to make sure Christmas doesn't come

It's not too late to ruin Christmas
ice the road and salt the lawn
break a window at every single house where lights are on
and punch 'em in the face if they try to sing you any songs
